The big, fat Indian wedding

It was better than Derby Night at the Turf Club on Wednesday as the Members’ Enclosure wore an elegant and festive look for the wedding reception of Gaurav Sethi and Neha Arya.
An otherwise reticent lot of distinguished Mumbaities attended the reception, among them friends, colleagues and wellwishers of the groom’s grandfather, the eminent cardiologist Dr BK Goyal.As soothing folk music played and fairy lights lit up the lawns, a grand buffet of food that comprised the cuisines of many Indian cities was spread out. Among the early guests at the reception were Governor SC Jamir and Chief Minister Ashok Chavan. The other guests included big names from industry, politics, the IAS and IPS cadre, including Sushilkumar Shinde, Shivajirao-Patil Nilangekar, Patangao Kadam, Ram Pradhan, Sachin Ahir, Nawab Malik, Julio Ribeiro, Dr PS Pascricha, MN Singh, Suresh Joshi, Satish Tripathi, Subhash Lala and Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty.
