Swish set for a wishful tomorrow

There was a nip in the air and a zip in the proceedings as the swish set settled down on the terrace overlooking the Gateway of India on Wednesday night for a crystal-clear charity auction to benefit a water school. The exquisite event, orchestrated by Prahlad Kakar, saw Ann Sophie Mayr speak with passion about the water investment project. And then the auction began.
A number of glamour girls were in the house, or rather on the terrace top: Neetu Chandra, Celina Jaitly, Perizaad Zorabian-Irani, Jiah Khan, Vidya Malavade, Urvashi Sharma, Manasi Scott, Aditi Gowitrikar, Viveka Babajee, Manasi Joshi-Roy and Anjorie Alagh — all walking in at their own sweet time even though it was a sit-down dinner affair.
(Among the late, late crowd was Perizaad Zorabian-Irani who took a long time to reach her table but then that was not her fault — she was besieged by the TV channels for a byte or two. Her bite at the sit-down dinner had to wait).
Well, the glam slam continued with the presence of Neeta Lulla and her daughter Nishka. And there were a few good men like Jamshyd Godrej, Atul Ruia, Mehul Choksi, Austrian Ambassador Dr Ferdinand Maultaschl, Ashish Raheja, Ramesh Taurani, Harish Fabiani and Ajay De. Dancers from China added to the entertainment quotient as guests dined on generous portions of salmon mousse, herbed sea bass and scallops ravioli, lamb osso bucco on a bed of risotto plus some delightful desserts.
