Kick-starting the new academic year with full gusto, students from

Jai Hind College

organised a ‘book-n-bake’ session in their premises yesterday. As a part of their

English association

’s festival Kani, several students from the college’s Arts department set up stalls in the college’s foyer. The annual activity’s theme this year was Gothic. The students set up stalls – from tarot card reading to selling cupcakes, novels and accessories – to learn more on entrepreneurship and creativity. In accordance with the theme, students were dressed in all-black outfits and accessorised their look with junk jewellery and dark lip shades. Interesting pick-up lines from the

Harry Potter

franchisee – fun experience for the first years.

Interestingly, the activity also served as an icebreaker between freshers and seniors. Diya Wadhwa, a FYJC student from the college, said, “It’s been a great start for me. I’ve already made a lot of friends and it’s been a heart-warming experience. I’m very excited to start my college days.” Kareena, a FYBA student who was volunteering at a cupcake stall, which had interesting Harry Potter-centric pick-up lines, said, “I’m glad to be a cultural candidate and this activity has been a lot of fun.”

Amrit Kalkat, a TYBA student, said, “I’ve been a part of this festival for the last two years. When I was in my first two years, my seniors ensured that I was a part of it and that’s what I aim to do.”
