Singers announce concert for deserving musicians

It was an event that saw singers get together to extend financial support, to artistes from the music fraternity with the help of an upcoming concert in the last week of this month. The event was attended by Shaan, Anup Jalota, Hariharan, Ankit Tiwari and Saurabh Daftary.
The singers discussed all that will be done for the upcoming function. The proceeds from the show, ‘Rehmatein 5’ that will see eminent singers perform, will be donated to the needy and deserving musicians by the Sangeetam Charitable Trust.
Talking about their overall performance at the event, the singers said, “In the first year, ‘Rehmatein’ presented money to the living legends of our industry Shri Khayyam Saab and Rajendra Mehta. The entire music industry was present to support this cause. During the second year, Rehmatein gave medical insurance for a period of two years to 20 musicians. During the third year, they gave financial aid of lakhs and insurance cover, mediclaim for a period of two years to 17 musicians. And this year, we will be extending financial support once again to the music fraternity.”

Anup Jalota said, “The same song that is sung in a pub and people dance to it, becomes spiritual when sung in this concert.” Saurabh added, “I have met legendary musicians who, when given a National Award have asked for monetary assistance instead of the prestigious award. That is the state most of them are in. They really need the money.”
