It was fitting to have actress Sharmila Tagore as the chief guest at this literary do by author Jaishree Misra, because the event had a Bollywood theme. In fact, after Sharmila walked in, the DJ at the console (yes, a DJ at a book bash!) started to play yesteryears’ Bollywood hits. Jaishree herself was dressed in an anarkali suit .HOW THEY MET: Sharmila was narrating how she and Jaishree met – Sharmila, as head of the CBFC, interacted with the latter when she was in the British Board of Film Classification.
“I keep telling people it’s the Central Board of Film Certification, but the name ‘Censor Board’ has stuck, she said laughing. Talking about a character in Jaishree’s book called Aman Khan, who’s a Bollywood superstar, Sharmila said grinningly, He’s a superstar, and a Khan to boot – he had to be a Khan!
FRIENDS AND FAMILY: Jaishree’s husband Ashutosh Misra was there, with their daughter Rohini and so was Shyama Chona with her daughter Tamanna. Author Anuja Chauhan was there too, looking funky in a grey outfit teamed with pink accessories. Where’s the funky neckpiece from, we asked. “It’s my daughter’s, actually,” she said looking sheepish. Did someone say everything book-ish was serious and dull?
