When Sanjana D’souza, a finalist of the Pond’s Femina Miss India 2013 contest, won the Westin Femina Miss Congeniality crown, she got a chance to experience The Heavenly Spa at The Westin Mumbai Garden City. From an array of offerings, she opted for a signature treatment — The Heavenly Massage, a 90-minute ritual that relaxes, rejuvenates and energises.
The massage uses a heated herbal compress to relax muscles with Indian therapeutic oils, which are massaged into the body. A multi-sensory experience in relaxation is created through a harmonious balance of scent, touch and warm herbs. Extra attention is given to the back and upper shoulders with a combination of Indian oils and western techniques. Put simply, the massage is a warm oil therapy with a warm compression.
Speaking about her spa experience, Sanjana said, “I am excited to have won the crown. The heavenly spa at the hotel was rejuvenating and energising. The massage is a perfect stress buster for our hectic lives.”
After the spa ritual, a warm Dhanwantharam oil is gently poured on the back and followed with warm compression of the herbal potli (which is filled with Indian herbs like Ashwagandha, turmeric, cinnamon, etc.). This helps reduce stress between tissues and muscles. The therapy adopts the Swedish massage technique, which helps relax the body and mind completely. In today’s busy schedule it becomes difficult to maintain a balance between work and play. Stress, pressure and demands are common problems. At the Heavenly Spa, an array of therapies are offered to uplift guests mentally, physically and spiritually by engaging and stimulating each of the five senses — sight, sound, touch, taste and scent through a holistic approach to wellness. The concept and philosophy of the spa is to provide a sensorial experience in a serene environment designed to inspire and renew the spirit of guests.
