Russian evening, Indian dinner!

The party hosted by Alexander Mantytsky to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Russia was an elegant affair.

Vijay Kalantri was initially seen giving Matan Schabracq and his good friend Sheetal Mallar company. While Matan dug into an early dinner of potato salad and asparagus lightly sauteed, Kalantri humoured many with tales of his past visits to Margaret Thatcher and John Major.

He was overheard telling a guest that when he visited the Kremlin to have dinner with Vladimir Putin, he was even allowed to take photographs inside! To which another gentleman remarked, with tongue firmly in cheek, ���Were you visiting the Kremlin or Disneyland?���
US Consul General Michael Owen nursed his white wine and left before dinner, while the Russian guests made merry toasts, as is Russian tradition. Kiran Shantaram was spotted at a far corner chatting with fellow guests. Kamal Sidhu was there with her husband too. She was heard telling people about what she was up to these days, career-wise. The Russian dancers impressed, as they gave traditional Russian dance a thoroughly modern makeover. For some reason though, the dinner was totally Indian!
