NM College gets crazy!

‘We just want to prove to everyone that NM College is not only about academics, but also fun and loads of talent besides the bookish ones,’ declared a contestant and that’s exactly what the proud bunch of NMiites did at the Bombay Times Fresh Face 2010.
As Bollywood’s leggy beauty Mugdha Godse stepped in the campus as a celebrity judge, the crowds buzzed with even more excitement that was already thick in the air.With confident participants to several being on the spot registrations, amidst elbow shoves by their friends, the two rounds saw the contestants beat not only each other with their talent, but also saw several beat their own stage fears as well. With registering as simple as logging onto iTimes, the contestants kept pouring in even as the last rounds were in order.
Mugdha’s encouraging words also inspired many impromptu singers take to the stage. From sharing tips on acting to modeling and recalling fond memories of her own college days, Mugdha too was every bit as enthusiastic as the crowds present. “Just keep faith in yourself and follow your dreams,” she advised to all the cheering participants. And the crowds didn’t disappoint her either. From playing the harmonica, to trained singers, the talented bunch had it all and they put it to good use too, as round after round they put their best foot forward. The question-answer round proved to be one fun round as well, with the contestants being grilled on serious issue-related topics as well as some fun ones.
The students spoke about causes they would support through their talent as also they spoke about corruption and system. Surbhi, Akshay, Pooja, Neha, Sahil, Shweta, Jai, Siddharth, all left the judges impre-ssed, not only with their talent and confidence, but also their quick wit. And as Mugdha pointed out that their perspective on a lot of issues made her proud to know that the future of our country is going to be in safe hands. Soon after the interactive rounds with the celeb judge and the BT judge, the winners were announced. The winners — Suraj Bharrti and Ruchita Shastry — incidentally both floored Mugdha with their beautiful voices, while runners up model and aspiring actor Rishabh Chande and the very chirpy Jasneet Kaur impressed all with their charming and wild ways. “Watch out guys, here we come,” chorused the winners in unison. Off to the finals then, NMiites. Keep it up!
