Mumbaikars explore the coast on a cycle

The route was dotted with beaches and scenic landscapes
This weekend, a group of seven people (from across age groups) took off on a two-day

coastal

cycling tour. The Maharashtra Coastal Cycling route is considered to be one of the best cycling routes in the country. It’s dotted with beaches, picturesque creeks, stunning cliffs and charming fishing hamlets, which became the main attractions of this

weekend trip

. Prateek Deo, who organised the trip shares, “We started cycling from Mandwa Jetty till Kashid and back and covered a stretch of 104 kilometers in two days. We had a group of seven people from across age groups. The youngest was 11-years-old. This route has some scenic landscapes and solitary lighthouses, ancient forts and temples. It’s a pleasure to

explore

this route especially on the weekend.”
Prateek shares that for many on the trip, the local food and the journey itself was the highlight for many as to begin with one has to take a ferry from Gateway of India to reach Mandwa, and that’s takes around 45 minutes. Arvind Sastry, an engineer, who was also part of the group shares, “The Maharashtra coastal cycling route is beautiful. Apart from the route itself, the fact that I got to stretch myself and cycle for around 52 kms a day was impressive. The local food, especially the thalis, refreshing coconut water and yummy sol kadhi, only add to the overall experience.” Arvind also informs that this route has many beaches, and that makes for a relaxing ride down the coast.
