As part of Art Afternoons, an initiative from
Goregaon
, an engaging Madhubani Painting Workshop was conducted on September 6th. The workshop was attended by art enthusiasts who were free to select a design of their choice and paint it on paper, cloth bags or coffee mugs.
Madhubani art
is practiced in the Mithila region of
Bihar with the paintings done using fingers, twigs, brushes, nib-pens and matchsticks, uing natural dyes and pigments. The paintings are characterised by eye-cathcing geometrical patterns.
Conducted with great expertise by Sona Choksi, the 3 hour workshop was very interactive and extremely enjoyable for all the participants. An accomplished artist and trainer in various forms of Indian traditional and

, Sona also gave information on Madhubani art and helped the participants finish their work.
The participants went home with their creations, happy and content. 'I thoroughly enjoyed this workshop. Excellent guidance', said Usha Nagarajan, one of the participants.
