Mumbaikars celebrate National Nutrition month

The event was held to create awareness about healthy living

Nutrition Maah

(or month) with the aim of reaching every household with the message of nutrition — ‘har ghar

poshan tyohar

’ (every house a celebration of nutrition). While it was a Government of India initiative as declared by PM Narendra Modi, the many events across the country helped in spreading a positive message.

Shilpa Mittal

too organised one such event in Mumbai, "We conduct this every year, to create awareness about Healthy Living and this was our seventh year. The topics included bone health, managing stress, healthy eating and healthy parenting. The event was attended by more the 150 people across Mumbai and a few from other states too. The main mission was to 'Nourish India, so as to flourish India'.
Various experts from different fields of medicine spoke during the event.

Dr Kunal Patel

spoke about osteoporosis, fracture risk, Vitamin D and why is everyone suffering from the lack of deficiency of the same. He mentioned that calcium rich foods will not work if one does not have sufficient vitamin D. He also demonstrated certain postures which could create problems later on while also speaking about painkillers and their importance.


Dr Devang Shah

spoke about healthy parenting and sound mental and spiritual health of kids. He emphasied on handling kids with love and not as a target or achievement. Along with speaking about how excessive use of sanitizers and wet wipes can cause problems like skin diseases, he also spoke about students in 10th std and how to handle the stress.
Shilpa Mittal spoke about various diets, and how in this trending world someone is following a keto diet or a vegan diet or a gluten free diet... She judged the pros and cons of each diet and gave tips on how to find out the ideal diet as per your body type. She emphasized on easy ways to include essential nutrients in daily diet through nuts, seeds, millets, good quality proteins through a cereal and pulse combination, about essential fats and how not just weight loss but good health and fitness is of utmost importance.

Riddhi Doshi

psychologist and behavourial coach conducted a session on ways to destress, manage stress in day-to-day living, enjoying your love life and this she did through various therapies like dance movement therapy, colour therapy.
