Early morning drive at Chowpatty

The team came together early in the morning by 7.30 am at Chowpatty Beach with over 120 volunteers present from different colleges and schools. Says Bhavya Shah, second-year student at

Government Law College

, “We collected single use plastic and glass bottles, garlands and so much more. There were also a lot of large garlands on the shore. We had divided everyone into four groups for the

clean-up

. The BMC workers were already at the venue and glad that we were doing this and they participated with us. What was nice, some members from the crowd also got involved and helped to pick up the waste.”
Adds Bhavesh Sao, State co-odinator for Junior and Youth

Red Cross

, Maharashtra, “The clean-up lasted for two hours. After winding up our effort, we had a photo-session with the team. Everyone felt that there was less bottles and bags to pick up since last year. The littering of plastic items were also on the lower side.”
