Mira Nair talks about 'Salaam Bombay' at host Anubhav Nath’s arthouse in Mumbai
It was an extended evening in the company of filmmaker Mira Nair – an action-packed evening that saw her speak about being happy that her film, 'Salaam Bombay', made 25 years ago, still managed to pop up in the collective conscious of the nation.
An evening that saw her friends – Shabana Azmi and Sanjoy Roy, her mother, Praveen, who’s taken the NGO Salaam Baalak Trust to a global level – stand by her.

One of the kids from the trust, Pankaj, gave a moving account of who he was, how he came to the trust, and how, he is now a performing artiste doing shows in Gurgaon. He spoke in English, astounding everyone present.
There was a screening of the film, followed by a charity dinner in aid of the trust. Set on the spacious, art-infused lawns of the host, Anubhav Nath’s arthouse, the evening had live music by the band formed by the trust’s children. An auction was also organised – a day’s ride in one of Anubhav’s vintage cars. Arun Jain and his wife got the ride, as they bid the highest.
