Make, bake & celebrate at Easter workshops
With Easter coming, cooking enthusiasts in Mumbai have been signing up for workshops that teach how to make traditional festive goodies. From Easter eggs to bunnies and cakes, these fun workshops let participants bring out their creative best.
‘Making easter eggs is therapeutic’Alisha Rodrigues from Santacruz who has been conducting Easter goodies workshops, teaches people to make the traditional Simnel cake, Easter eggs and golden bunnies. Alisha says, “Easter goodies are not very common and hence people want to learn to prepare them. Making Easter eggs is therapeutic; it’s easy to make. You can also get creative and decorate them beautifully. Participants have a lot of fun making Easter eggs with their kids, family or simply at our class.”
‘Easter celebrations offer an opportunity to connect with family traditions’Naomi Pais from Vakola has been conducting classes in the city for more than 10 years. She says, “Easter celebrations offer a wonderful opportunity to connect with family traditions. The recipes, material and equipment for the workshop are provided by us. I teach marzipan Easter eggs, bonnets and hand-moulded ducks, chocolate truffle eggs, coconut pancakes and more. I also teach how to decorate the Easter eggs with flowers and royal icing.”
I'm a corporate trainer by profession but baking is my soul passion. At my workshops participants learn how to make the marzipan dough and shape them into eggs, how to make royal icing for decoration and packaging the eggs- Michelle Fernandes, Sandhurst Road
I’ve always been fascinated by Easter eggs, so when I heard about a workshop in the city, I was excited and decided to enroll for it. I am all set to make Easter eggs tomorrow
— Preeti Deshpande, an entrepreneur
I signed up for a workshop because this year I wanted to make Easter goodies at home rather than buy them from a shop
— Rita Dias, a post-graduate student
There’s more to Easter goodies than just Easter eggs. This time I wanted to learn to make Simnel cake, hand-molded ducks, bonnets and, of course, hot cross buns
