It took a lot of courage from gallerist-turned-artist Kalpana Shah to smile through the preview of her debut art show — The Power of Love — that took place on Tuesday evening at her own Tao art gallery.
The exhibition was a tribute to her husband who lost his life in the 26/11 attacks, and it took nothing less than willpower, faith and the Power of Love to complete and present her show.

And applauding not just her strength but also her unique knife-painted works and steel installations were a number of her friends and well-wishers, from the art world and other fields. Riteish Deshmukh, Suniel and Mana Shetty, Sarayu Doshi, Ashvin Gidwani, Dolly Thakore all greeted Kalpana with a warm hug. Lighting the inaugural lamp were Akbar Padamsee and Kalpana’s children. Also spotted among the throngs of guests were Francois and Mayumi Pujolas, Jenny Bhatt, Raell Padamsee and Jaideep and Seema Mehrotra.
