The morning of the 4th
International Yoga Day saw thousands of enthusiastic participants across the city come together to celebrate it. What made it special was that almost every school, college and other educational institution left no stone unturned to mark this special day.
The International Yoga Day is the outcome of our Prime Minister
Narendra Modi’s initiation at the United Nations General Assembly, and it continues to be celebrated worldwide. This is the fourth year of celebrations.
Yoga undoubtedly has become essential to lead a healthy lifestyle and is undoubtedly a great way to keep fit physically and mentally. Experts say that doing regular yoga can help to take care of the stress and strain of daily lives.
Bhavan’s College, Andheri
Students, NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, administrative and other members of the office of the Principal of Bhavan’s College, Andheri, assembled at Bhavan’s campus at 7 am, for a mass practice of yoga asanas. Under the guidance of Capt.
Malini Sharma, the students and staff performed various yoga asanas,
pranayama
and dhyaan.
Guru Nanak
A detailed explanation was also provided about correct postures of the asanas and their positive effects on our body and mind. The asanas and dhyaan was practiced for about one and half hour.
Students of St Xavier’s College, Mumbai,
Mithibai College
, Vile Parle,
Guru Nanak
College, GTB Nagar, participated in a yoga sessions in their college. The Mumbai University also organised an event today that began at 9:30 am and went on till 11 am.
