The promotional campaign of “Rockstar” may be keeping Imtiaz Ali busy, but the director is adept at striking a balance between his personal and professional life. Sajid Ali, Imtiaz’s brother, recently got married to Mahid Ayesha Ali in Srinagar.
Despite hectic work schedule, Imtiaz shouldered his responsibilities and succeeded in flooring the guests at the reception ceremony in Jamshedpur.

Imtiaz, as all the guests told us, played the perfect host. From taking care of the guests to organizing a performance by a qawwali group all the way from Nizamuddin Auliya Dargah, Imtiaz did everything to make sure it was a memorable event. No wonder Mansoor Ali was all praises for his son! “The arrangements for the reception in Jamshedpur were done by Imtiaz. He was at the venue since 8am. my sons belong to the film industry. While Imtiaz directs movies, the other two are into writing scripts,” said Mansoor.
NO BOLLYWOOD NUMBERS: That Imtiaz has always been fascinated by qawwals has been evident from the fact that he had them perform at the reception. Imtiaz had earlier shot at the Dargah in Delhi for “Rockstar” and had also launched the music of his movie at the same venue. Interestingly, the qawwalis (including the evergreen “Duma Dum Mast Kalandar” and “Lado Gayee Piya Ke Ghar”), instead of Bollywood numbers, were a hit with the guests. Though Bollywood celebrities were conspicuously absent from the reception, the crew of “Rockstar” attended the party.
THEY LOOKED PERFECT: Mansoor with wife Razia and sons Imtiaz and Sajid were the first to arrive at the venue. Initially, Imtiaz, who was spotted wearing a white kurta was soon seen sporting a black sherwani. While Sajid opted for a black suit, wife Mahid Ayesha looked stunning in a blue lehenga that was ordered from Delhi. Imtiaz’s better half, Preeti, looked stunning in a Rajasthani ensemble. And the Punjabi parandi she chose to wear with her plait looked interesting.
DIRECT DIL SE: On being asked whether Preeti’s fascination for a parandi had anything to do with Imtiaz’s love for Punjabi culture in his movies, Preeti said, “I like Punjabi culture. But my look today has nothing to do with it. I just wanted to try out something different.” On being quizzed about her hubby’s movies, she said, “Among all his films, I have loved “Socha Na Tha”. Sometimes, I offer him suggestions about his projects and if he is convinced, he accepts them. There is a buzz surrounding “Rockstar” and it’s a good movie.”

FINALLY THE GUESTS ARRIVED: Around 8pm, Mahid’s relatives started pouring in. Imtiaz’s sister, Atya, was overheard saying, “Mahid’s grandma is an inspiration for women in Kashmir. She’s worked for their betterment.” Mahid’s mother Aneesa, father Bilal and brother Khavid were spotted at the do. When somebody complimented Bilal for his black ensemble, he said, “You can call it a man in black look. The movie was made after I developed a liking for black!” Once the ashirwad samaroh was over, it was time for the qawwali singers to enthrall everyone. Soon the guests, SSP Akhilesh Jha, special magistrate Ranjana Mishra, MP Ajay Kumar and corporate bigwig JJ Irani, started trooping in.
