Pavan Varma has a knack for not only showcasing but also preserving Indian culture.” Gulzar also mentioned how his favourite chapter was the one about the cosmos.
It was interesting to hear the author indulge in a discussion pivoting around why he wrote the book and the significance of the philosophies of Hinduism. Talking about how Hinduism has been a dynamic practice of faith, Pavan said, “The greatest harm you can do to Hinduism is to simplify it. It is a way of life. Even though it has failed many times, its grand success is that it never dies due to the capacity to re-invent itself.”

Pavan Varma in conversation with Anil Dharker on stage

On stage, Anil and Pavan engaged in a fun conversation. Anil brought up about how the perception of Hinduisim has changed over the years. They were talking about how dabte was concept actually has been since the concept of Adi Shankaracharya. “I think all human beings have prejudices; some are deep rooted while the rest on the surface. When powerful voices bring out those prejudices, worst happens. At times like these, to bring out voice of sanity, may there be more like Pavan Varma.”
