That Lata Mangeshkar is a singer par excellence is something we all know. But that she also has a great sense of humour was something the audience comprising mostly of Gujaratis got to know at this event recently.
The songstress, who was at the do in honour of Purshottam Upadyay, was asked to give a speech. Lata exclaimed that the Gujarati audience always delights her, as they not only ask for an encore when people sing, there are shouts of ‘once more’ even after one gives a good speech! Purshottam, on his part, said that he was honoured by Lata’s presence and took the opportunity to touch her feet.The stage was also graced by singers like Roopkumar and Sunali Rathod, Bhupinder and Mitali Singh, Sadhna Sargam and Pankaj Udhas.
