December always sees Mumbai wear a happy vibe. The city’s roads and streets prep for Christmas with shiny decorations in the little stalls and shops. And now, towards New Year’s Eve, festive

fairy lights

are on everywhere. In

Bandra

, the Queen of the Suburbs, the lanes are a must-see. A

themed

cycle

ride

brought the Buddy Riders group here on a trail.

‘Like a lovely, magical ride’

On the beautifully-decorated promenade along the Bandra Reclamation waterfront

Around 25

cyclists

met up at 9 pm at the ‘I love Bandra’ installation. Post a few

selfies

there, they headed to the beautifully-decorated promenade along the

Bandra Reclamation

waterfront. Says interior designer Misbah Kapadia, “It was almost like a lovely, magical ride through fairyland. This was such a treat and Bandra was so well lit. You can feel the warmth and the camaraderie as you ride through there.” After walking through the reclamation promenade, they then cycled towards Mount Mary steps, moving to Perry Cross Road, Pali Village and also passed through the quaint homes in the gaothan.

For software engineer Eshal Jain, the ride became memorable. "I clicked quite a lot of pictures for my Instagram. We got home by 1 am with a bunch of memories. It was something we won't forget," she says.

Adds Andheri resident Ajay Kurup who had embarked on such a

festive

ride for the first time, “I loved how trees were lit and the pattern of the lighting had so much uniformity. It was certainly well-designed.”

The riders stopped to take pictures in the bright bylanes. As the clock struck 12 am, they celebrated fellow rider Reena's birthday with cheer and a lovely cake with candles, discreetly arranged by Misbah. All in all, a fun time was had by everyone.
