On a misty Sunday morning, Delhi woke up early to run for a cause. Many from Bollywood were present too, including Bipasha Basu, Rahul Bose, Arshad Warsi and Gul Panag. Bipasha was very excited to be at the event. Said she, “Even though I am an actress, my passions are health and fitness. It gives me immense pleasure to be here today and be the face of this event.
To do anything, you have to first love yourself and the beautiful body that God has given you. Just take out 20 minutes for your body and you will remain ever fresh and young. If you don’t love yourself, you cannot do anything.” Bipasha would have joined the run too had there not been security concerns. “I really wanted to run for this event but the police stopped me,” she said. Dhanraj Pillay was at the marathon too. Said he, “I appeal to all of you to come and join this marathon and make it the number one marathon of the world.” The enthusiasm of the participants inspired those who had come to only watch the marathon. “I am amazed at the spirit and enthusiasm of Delhi. I promise to participate in all the future marathons,” Arshad said.
Breaking the geographical barrier: Not only Delhiites, but people from other countries too came to be a part of this run. Said Soko and Tomaya, who had come from Japan, “We are in Delhi for a business trip and we planned the dates of our trip to include this marathon. It is a nice experience to be here. Hope I will join next year also.” Rajinder and Rajesh from Bhiwani came to run in the marathon too. They spent the night before the marathon in Nehru Park as they didn’t have any other place to sleep. “We have been practising since the last three months,” said Rajinder.
For a cause: Colourful posters and banners dedicated to a cause caught the attention of all. ‘Alert Today, Alive Tomorrow,’ ‘Race of Love,’ ‘People with Passion’, ‘Quit Smoking’ and ‘Love Your Body, Love the World’ were some of them.
