Celebrities come together for fashion fundraiser

This was an event that brought together the well-heeled lot, all for a special cause. Designer

Maheka Mirpuri

hosted a fundraiser for underprivileged cancer patients at Tata Memorial Hospital. Held at the Taj, Colaba, the premises looked opulent as it had a preview of paintings and a few ensembles that were to be auctioned that evening.

The turnout was quite a starry one – with society and Bollywood present. Among the guests, we spotted Nisha Jamvwal, Remu and Naaz Javeri, Parvez Damania, Aamir Ali and wife Sanjeeda, Poonam Dhillon, Bhagyashree, Amrita Raichand and others. Bharat Dabholkar, Sabira Merchant and Raell Padamsee were seen having a chat. Jackie Shroff looked his usual dapper self in glares as he came by to lend support and posed for pictures with his fans, too. We spotted Ramesh Sippy and Kiran Joneja joining him for a quick chat on the side. Madhoo Shah seemed to get her pre-winter colours right in blues and purples.

After a round of conversation and drinks, the evening kicked off with an auction of paintings and experiences. Boman Irani who conducted the proceedings, took to the mic got everyone in a light mood with his humour. He first sang a song and even asked the audience to join in.
Post the auction, guests walked down the winding ramp in Maheka’s ensembles. Kunal Kapoor and Poonam Mahajan, who support the cause, were thanked by Maheka for their efforts. Everyone went on to dinner at the end of the evening.
