Care for your wedding outfit with climate-controlled storage
Couples that are hoping to maintain their wedding outfit and keep it as good as new, for years to come are now opting for climate-controlled storage. These storage units that are available across all major cities in India ensure that your outfit is maintained in a consistent temperature and humidity level to protect the garment from any damage.
‘We have seen a massive rise in couples wanting to store their wedding outfits’
Ameya Davda, co-founder of a climate-controlled storage unit that operates in Mumbai and Bengaluru says most garments stored, are maintained at a temperature of 24 to 25 degrees throughout the day. “We also have clients storing expensive shoes, belts, bags and purses that they want to maintain. We have generators as a backup in case of power failure and also provide temperature reading on demand when clients ask for it. We have seen a massive rise in couples wanting to store their wedding outfits because they are spending so much on it and may want to repeat it once a year at someone else’s wedding,” he says.
‘Heavy Indian wear and heirloom clothing need maintenance through the year’
Riddhi Bhalaria, marketing head of a climate-controlled storage unit that operate across locations like Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Nagpur, Indore etc says, the vaults are equipped with air filters that keep out dust, pollen, and other pollutants that can settle on fabrics and cause damage. She says, “Many clients want to preserve their wedding outfits and pass their garments on to the next generation. Given the busy life maintaining garments at home is a challenge and we help maintain them to ensure the family heirloom continues. Heavy Indian wear, heirloom clothing, silks etc. need maintenance through the year.”
Garments today are of very high value and we have seen that consumers are willing to repeat and re-wear their garments owing to celebrities such as Alia Bhatt reusing her wedding day sari therefore, choosing to preserve and reuse to live a more sustainable life.
