The sizzling summer sun did nothing to deter the party hearty spirit of Mumbais party people, who turned up in their colourful Sunday best for what turned out to be quite a super brunch-turned-soiree. Hosted by Roohi Jaikishan, Riyad Oomerbhoy and Giorgio Morini, the afternoon was a feast for the senses from the word go. And it was all about fun, food and frolic.
In the spirit of a true brunch party, apart from the healthy Italian fare, there was also a live breakfast counter that dished up eggs in whatever style one wanted be it sunny side up, akoori or a sausage and cheese stuffed masala omelette! along with mouthwatering crisp fried bacon rashers and juicy baked beans. And if that fry up didnt satisfy your cravings, there was also the option of freshly-cooked risotto, in order to soak up all the chilled beer and champagne.
Simone Singh and Fahad Samar were seen nibbling and chatting away at the antipasto counter, where Haseena Jethmalani, Sunny and Anu Dewan were also feasting. Michelle and Yohan Poonawala enjoyed the pepper-flecked salmon while Kailash Surendranath looked in total brunch mode in his cool suit. And it was worth nothing the difference in attire between the Italian and Indian gents.
The Indian men largely wore suits and hats despite the heat, while the Italians came out in light shirts and baggy trousers. Quite a contrast! Avanti and Yash Birla chilled out on a sofa, while Gauri Pohoomull accompanied her daughter Aashika to the childrens section that boasted its own set of attractions.
Maheka Mirpuri was also present. Later, Italian Consul General Giampaulo Cutillo gave away prizes while guests chilled out, digesting the food fare, by getting a relaxing foot massage. As for chef Michele Tomadin, he finally managed to grab a bite himself, after making sure all the guests were well fed. As afternoon became evening, guests petered out, but all went home content.
