Halloween certainly brought out the city's ghouls,

witches

and warlocks. And for a

bookstore

at

Kemps Corner

, it was time to celebrate with mini versions of these characters. They had a '

Monster Bash

' for

kids

between the ages 4 to 12 on October 31. The young ones came dressed as monsters, ghosts, and all creatures

scary

. The vibrant event had decor to match, too. In one room, bats, pumpkin-shaped lanterns and webs hung from the ceiling and about 50 kids wore costumes varying from evil queens wearing black lipstick to fairies in white gowns, Dracula and you had villains donning flashing horn bands jumping up and down with excitement. Despite the different decor , the atmosphere was lightened by fun and innovative activities like 'freeze and tickle', 'feed the pumpkin' and 'passing the hot sticks'. The kids also indulged face painting and a treasure hunt.
When asked why they liked Halloween, one kid dressed in a wicked villain avatar, excitedly replied, “Because I get to scare people!”

Added Maulk Desai, head of the bookstores,"This year’s Halloween Monster bash was a spectacular event. The little monsters were all pumped up and dressed to the nines. The games and the contests were a success and while there was a tinge of spookiness in the atmosphere the kids seemed to enjoy it all very well.”

The event ended with three prizes for the best dressed costumes with

vampires

, witches, vampire-clowns and ghosts contesting against each other. Loads of prizes, gifts and vouchers were also given away to the winners.
