Sure, bridal finery is fine but, perhaps for the first time, the focus of attention was on the groom. Aza Men’s store founder, Alka Nishar, hosted another ‘first’ in fashion trends — an evening that celebrated the Indian groom. The lady urged you to come and get styled for each and every function, from the cocktail to the mehendi to the reception. You saw this celebration of the groom on Thursday evening with a stylish showcase of the latest wedding trends in menswear from the country’s leading designers all under one roof.
On view was a luxuriant, opulent and fashionable line with an array of silhouettes, intricate embroideries and blends of contemporary and traditional patterns in vibrant colours and stunning designs. Enjoying the experience were the likes of designers Rocky S, Lascelles Symons and Narendra Kumar with his lady love, Kadambari Lakhani. Indulging in conversations about style and luxury were Vikram Raizada with those stylish black jodhpuris, Chhaya Momaya and Umesh Jivnani.
The evening took on an even more cheerful air as the Teen Patti stars —
Shraddha Kapoor, Siddharth Kher, Dhruv Ganesh and Vaibhav Talwar — made their presence felt. Rohit and Manasi Joshi Roy, Naaz and Remu Zaveri (who were colour-coordinated in white ensembles), Divya Palat and Aditya Hitkari (colour-coordinated in black), Nisha Jhaveri, Pria Kataria Puri and hubby Sumit, Aarti and Kailash Surendranath, Nishka and Siddharth Lulla, Anju Chulani, Masaba Gupta and Viren Shah were also part of this fashionable outing. “All these years it has always been about the bride, but with the changing times and desires, for the first time, the focus at Aza is on the groom. Now the Indian groom can enjoy his metro sexuality, as Aza Men styles him through his special occasion. Celebrating the Indian Groom is all about rejoicing his mystic charm and the gentleman inside him,” said Alka, summing up the essence of the evening.
