An afternoon in a Nawabi style

Anki and Ashwini Khurana invited the city’s glitterati to be a part of Nawabi Andaaz-E-Bayaan, a Khushii fundraiser, recently, and the guests enjoyed a bright sunny afternoon in complete nawabi style.
From Awadhi cuisine to a session of sher-o-shayari and patangbaazi to shatranj, followed by a fashion show that displayed Mughal couture by Ashima and Leena, the do was truly royal.
GLAM ON THE RUNWAY: First, Isha Sharvani walked the ramp in a purple lehenga, followed by Delhi’s who’s who strutting down the ramp amidst whistles and cheers. Dilshaad Sheikh, Feroze Khan’s sister, looked great in a black outfit as did Bubbles Sabharwal and Lushin Dubey. Ramola Bachchan and Alpana Gujral stuck to Indian wear. Nalini Singh and Shovana Narayan too walked the ramp. “Nalini was apprehensive initially, but I must say she did a very good job,” said Leena. And well, the showstoppers were Romi and Kapil Dev.
Remember when Kapil, one of the patrons of Khushii, had walked the ramp for the first time at a Khushii event earlier, he’d said, “I’d love to walk again?” Well, we’d love to see more of you, Kapil!
ME TOO? Anki was seen enjoying the show and chatting with her friends but a little later, we saw her running towards the basement to change! “I had to walk the ramp and I forgot all about it. When I came to know I was next, I just ran,” she said.
