The collection Mauj was an ode to the bohemian globetrotter, who would take on the world, one fashion statement at a time. The collection was mostly inspired by the Mauj Dhurrie type of weaving, which consists of leftover or waste threads.
Gauahar Khan walked for Rinku Sobti
The collection Tassels was a symphony of gorgeous fabrics that were unfurled on the runway in two varying forms—one of intricate traditional weaves with a dramatic play of jewel tones and second, an avant-garde offering of beautiful practical checks and cuts.
Aditi Rao Hydari walked for Ritu Kumar The Varanasi Weaves collection, an initiative to honour Banarsi Weavers, is supported by the Ministry of Textiles, to revive handloom weaving in Varanasi. Using old nakshas, Ritu recreated superb collections of vintage designs at the show.
Dia Mirza opened Anita Dongre’s show
The Grassroot collection paid tribute to the glorious craftsmanship of India. The fabrics included gorgeous silks from Bhagalpur. The varying styles moved from western to fusion in easy silhouettes with lavish crafts as the focal point of each entry.
Bridal finery at its best
Gaurang Shah’s grand bridal collection Samyukta was inspired by the love story between Prithviraj Chauhan and his queen Samyukta. Gaurang revived Kanjeevaram, Khadi, Uppada, Paithani, Banarasi, Patan Patola, Kota Dhakai and added traditional embroidery like zardozi, gotta, doria, marodi, aari and chikankari.
