Mumbai gallery to host nine-artist show on art, identity, and the environment
Opening June 13 in Mumbai, Isotropical Futures is a compelling new group exhibition that brings together nine contemporary Indian artists reflecting on the interconnected crises of environment and identity. Curated by Yash Vikram, the show delves into themes of ecological justice, cultural memory, and collective survival.
Artwork by Bardhaman-based artist Moumita Basak
On view at Tao Art Gallery until July 10, the exhibition features works by Unnikrishnan C, Avni Bansal, David Malaker, Harmeet Rattan, Sitikanta Samantsinghar, Geetanjali Bayan, Moumita Basak, Satadru Sovan, and Asif Imran. Their practices span a range of media–from embroidery, sculpture, and mixed media to surreal paintings and performance–offering both personal and political responses to climate change, marginalisation, and capitalist homogenisation. Rather than offering utopian escape, Isotropical Futures invites reflection on solidarity, care, and shared responsibility, positioning art as both protest and proposition in a rapidly changing world.end of article
