Reinforcing its commitment to commuter safety, Metro Railway, Kolkata conducted a firefighting training programme for field staff at Central Metro Station under the supervision of senior officials.
The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen emergency preparedness across the network, with regular monitoring of safety measures by the General Manager. The training focused on equipping staff with practical skills to respond effectively to fire-related incidents.
During the session, participants were trained to handle simulated fire and smoke scenarios, learning techniques to control flames and manage emergency situations in real-time conditions. Staff from the Traffic and Electrical departments, along with personnel from the Railway Protection Force (RPF), took part in the exercise.
Such drills are aimed at enhancing the alertness and responsiveness of frontline staff, ensuring quicker action during emergencies, minimising risks, and restoring normal operations at the earliest.
