Metro Railway celebrates International Women’s Day with focus on equality and empowerment
Metro Railway, Kolkata marked International Women's Day with a programme at Metro Rail Bhavan, highlighting the importance of gender equality and women’s empowerment in the workplace.
S.S. Mishra, General Manager, Metro Railway, emphasised the need for collective efforts to ensure equal opportunities for women to excel and contribute meaningfully. He noted that women employees of Metro Railway continue to serve as role models within society.
Guest speaker Piyali Sengupta, Assistant Professor at IISWBM, spoke about the importance of achieving sustainable development goals for women, focusing on education, justice, health, self-reliance, sensitivity and equality. Gopa Majumder, Principal Chief Medical Officer, Metro Railway, addressed key health concerns affecting women employees and discussed ways to manage and address these issues effectively.
As part of the programme, Madhumita Mishra, President of MRWWO, along with office bearers, felicitated women employees with mementos in recognition of their contributions.
The event saw active participation from senior officials, members of MRWWO and women staff across departments. A cultural programme was also organised, with enthusiastic performances by women employees adding to the celebrations.
