Some classical music for the soul

A two-day classical music event was organised to commemorate the 65th death anniversary of Tabla maestro Pandit Anokhelal Mishra. Brijesh Pathak, Deputy Chief Minister, who was the chief guest, along with Pandit Sukhwinder Singh Pinky, Ajay Prasanna and Manoj Mishra, commenced the event by lighting the lamp.

“One cannot imagine a world devoid of music. The music of India is known far and wide, and the world of music is incomplete without mentioning the names of Lucknow and Banaras ka Gharana,” said Brijesh Pathak.

The opening of the musical event began with Lucknow-based tabla player Shivargh Bhattacharya performing a tabla recital in which he played the Kayeda, Tukra, and Paran in teental accompanied by Dinkar Dwivedi on the harmonium. The performance was followed by the talented flute artist Pandit Ajay Prasanna who played Raag Bageshree, a vilambit piece in Rupak taal, followed by a drut composition in teental along with Arunesh Pandey on the tabla.
