Actor Randeep Hooda has come to the rescue of the family members of his '

Highway

' co-actor Saharsh Kumar Shukla, who belongs to Raebareli, UP. Members of Saharsh's family were allegedly assaulted by some goons in their village Lalaganj in

Raebareli

district. The incident took place on Wednesday evening when Saharsh's father, Murli Manohar Shukla, a retired government servant was abused by his neighbours, who were allegedly drunk. The verbal spat led to three men beating Saharsh's father at first and later, barging into his house and beating up all the family members including the women. The assault resulted in Saharsh's father suffering multiple fractures in his leg. "They did not even spare my mother, sister and my grandfather, who is 86-years-old," says Saharsh, who is in Mumbai, adding, "The entire family of these men who assaulted my family, has a criminal background and most of them have been in jail for various reasons. It's not only about my family, they have been harassing everyone in the village and nobody dares to take action against them."

Saharsh adds, "I shared the local news clippings with Randeep Hooda and also sent him a video of the assault requesting him to help out. He's been a mentor to me since my FTII days. Randeep sir then called me to tell me how to deal with this matter. He later also wrote about the incident on Twitter put up a tweet about this on Twitter tagging UP CM Yogi Adityanath, Smriti Irani and the UP Police." shares Saharsh. After Randeep's tweet, the

UP Police

too came into action and replied to him on Twitter that the matter will be investigated and action against the accused will be initiated.
The actor also got a reply to his tweet from the Lalganj police that they were looking into the matter.
Telling us about the case Randeep, who's busy shooting for a film, said, "Saharsh approached me and told me about this incident. He messaged me and I talked to him and advised him on what he should do. I also deliberated about what to do. I thought that even if I go and meet the police guys personally, which would not be different from what these other guys would do, it won't help much. So then I thought that the best way to approach such a problem was by putting it out publicly. I felt that instead of pulling a personal favour through somebody, which would be the same as these guys pulling a favour at the Lalganj kotwali, I felt it was better to address it on a public platform. So that is why I had tweeted about it. Saharsh has worked with me in 'Highway' and he’s a very nice and soft-spoken guy. I felt if I'm in a position to help him, one should not shy away from such things. We all do what we can and we should do what we can."
