Lucknow celebrated Bastille Day with pomp

A sit-down dinner (Table d’hôte) to celebrate the French Bastille Day was held at a hotel in Gomti Nagar, recently. The do was hosted for the committee members of Alliance Française, Lucknow. Bastille Day is celebrated in France to commemorate the storming of the Bastille prison in 1789 that marked the start of the French Revolution. It was an enlightening evening for the city as the members discussed and celebrated the Indo-French ideals of liberty, equality and fraternity.

Dr Nishi Pandey welcomed the guests and later, AN Mishra talked about the revolutionary days in Paris, which started the movement.

To complement the occasion, the hotel staff decorated the dining tables and dishes in the same colour as of France flag. The menu for the evening included a variety of French delicacies such as smoked salmon with cream cheese, pan-seared fish with orange and cinnamon reduction, and dauphinoise potato with ratatouille.
