Horses put their best foot forward for Army Commander’s Cup in Lucknow

The Army Commander’s Cup horse race was although a hurriedly put up affair but a mighty well managed one. With mostly people from the forces and their better halves present for the races, the Lucknow Race Course wasn’t lacking in any action. The sunny Sunday began with the band of the

Gorkha Rifles

putting up an impressive display followed by their troops showing off some dangerous moves with the khukhri dance.

And while the ladies danced in between on the songs played by a civilian band, the

horses

got ready to gallop on the tracks. The first race was of the Indian bred horses which was easily won by Rani making the jockey Monu and owner

proud.

In the second race of the thoroughbreds, most were expecting the past two races winner Vijoy’s Joy to win this time too, but Dark Tiger proved to be the dark horse and easily cruised off ahead of the others much to the delight of owner

Apart from the winners collecting their trophies, a lot many other prizes were also doled out at the event by Lt Gen Iqroop Singh Ghuman and his wife Ginny and Lt Gen MU Nair and Swapna. While the Best Hat Male prize was clinched by Brig Bhargav, Hemi Puri walked away with the prize of the Best Hat Lady.

was adjudged the Best Dressed Gentleman while

got the prize for being the Best Dressed Lady.
