Earth Day celebrations get a cultural twist

To observe Earth Day, a mesmerizing poetic dance ballet drama performance titled Mai Dharti Hu was organised at Sangeet Natak Academy in Gomti Nagar. The production was skillfully composed, directed and conceptualized by Jyoti Sinha and featured renowned kathak artist Dr Akanksha Shrivastava as the director of the performance. The ballet was a breathtaking fusion of poetry, dance and drama that captivated and enthralled the audience.

The event started with the lighting of the lamp, which was followed by a welcome speech by Jyoti Sinha. Later, renowned environmentalist Rana Pratap, who was the chief guest, addressed the gathering. Subsequently, the highly awaited segment of the evening unfolded, featuring a one of a kind amalgamation of dance, drama and poetry. The performance was accentuated by a stunning montage of Earth’s natural beauty, which played on the digital screen in the background. The production featured soul-stirring narrations and voice-overs delivered by artists including Rupali Chandra, Jyoti Sinha and Abhishek Singh. The narrative of the drama revolved around a poetess and an artist who encounter Dharti personified in human form. Dharti takes them on a voyage, showcasing the splendour of Earth’s flora, fauna, rivers and mountains. However, Dharti also draws attention to the adverse impact of human activities on the environment, underscoring the issue of pollution and depletion of natural resources.
