An adrenaline pumping two-day celebrations for these old boys
A boys’ college recently organized a Dinner Gala to honour and celebrate its alumni, as part of the college’s 175th-anniversary celebrations. Although the milestone was reached in 2020, the pandemic prevented any large-scale celebrations from taking place at the time. The do was attended by many alumni who gathered together to mark this momentous occasion. A special 175th-year celebration memento was given to everyone who attended the evening as a reminder of the occasion.
The formal ceremony was graced by the president’s address, Rajneesh Chopra, followed by the patron’s address, the principal of the college, Carlyle McFarland. Alumni board members, Rajnish Chopra and Jaideep Mathur were facilitated along with Amit Arora. Khalid Rizvi, who graduated from La Martiniere College in 1964, was especially honoured at the ceremony as the most senior member in attendance.
The celebrations continued on the next day too at a horse race organised for the boys and their families at the Lucknow Race Course. Apart from the two races of the Indian Bred and Thoroughbred, the afternoon also had the current lot of college boys putting on an impressive show of their skills on the horses as well as gymnastics.
The adrenaline-pumping final horse race of the season in Awadh wrapped up with the distribution of prizes for several categories, such as the Best Hat award for men and women, won by Lt Col Vijay and Shikha, respectively. The awards for Best Dressed Lady and Best Dressed Gentleman went to Aditi and Col Sudhir Tripathi, respectively. Lastly, Harsh and Antra Gaur received the Made For Each Other in the category for young couples, while SK Bhargav and wife won the prize in the category for senior couples. The event concluded with the audience grooving on songs like Summer of 69 and I’ll Be There For You, played by the Band named Cofflinks from the boys college while George A Figg played the saxophone adding jazz to the afternoon.
