A walkathon for a cause

A 5km walkathon was recently organized from 1090 Women’s Helpline Chauraha to Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Park to create awareness and sensitize the general public towards wetlands and birds. The chief guest for the walkathon was Jaiveer Singh, Minister of Tourism, while the special guests included KP Malik, Additional Chief Secretary, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department, Govt. of UP and well-known folk singer and Padma Shri awardee Malini Awasthi. Padma Shri and Arjuna awardee international athlete Sudha Singh lead the walkathon which had more than 200 participants.

Students from various schools and colleges were also present to walk for the cause of saving nature. During the walkathon, many were seen dressed as birds. A band of the ITBP (Indo-Tibetan Border Police) played songs like Sandeshe Aate Hain, Mere Desh Ki Dharti, Yeh Desh Hai Veer Javano Ka, among others to cheer people during the wlakathon.
