A musical tribute to Pushpavati Tiwari in Lucknow

An evening dedicated to Late Dr Pushpavati Tiwari, mother of actor-writer and theatre artist Atul Tiwari and Anjali Tiwari was an eloquent one. The event, organized at Bharatendu Natya Akademi, was organised to mark the first death anniversary of Pushpavati Tiwari.

The event started off with a short film based on Dr Tiwari directed by Manish Gupta."The good qualities that I have inherited are all from my mother. She will always be my guiding angel and my source of inspiration," said an emotional Atul.

Dr Premvati Tiwari and Dr Asha Yashwant also talked about the bond they shared with their sister Pushpa. "I remember the time my sister took pains so that I could get a good education. Girls at that time were not given quality education. But my sister fought for me and today I am a doctor. All the credit goes to my sister for nurturing us and taking care of us like a mother," said Premvati Tiwari.

A special musical rendition by singer Shekhar Sen made everyone emotional in the auditorium. Shekhar, who was accompanied by Ashish Biswas on the tabla and Prashant Saxena on the santoor, sang some of his own compositions like 'Oh Maiya Yaad Sataye Teri Pardes Mein,'' Jaane Kyon Naina Bhar Aye Pardes Mein' among others.
