Lights outshine noise this Diwali
Bazi Bazar at is back this Diwali showcasing eco-friendly, , reflecting the growing preference for light-based displays. From traditional sparklers and fountains to innovative , Halloween lanterns, drones, and Tricolour fountain pots, there’s a lot to choose from. CT takes a look.
Lights take the centre stage
This year, the focus is entirely on illumination rather than noise. Sushil Kumar Golchha, VP, The Burrabazar Fireworks Dealers’ Association (TBFDA) saying, “There are nearly 30–40 varieties of just flower pots and base-range crackers. Display shells are in highest demand this year, priced between `300 and `4,000 per box. Customers are increasingly opting for fireworks that light up the sky, with dazzling displays and colourful trails.”
8-10pm is the time window for bursting crackers on Monday
City goes eco-friendly
Eco-friendly, low smoke crackers are also in the spotlight. “Louder crackers like kali potka, rockets, chocolate bombs, and dodoma are no longer available,” says Santanu Dutta, treasurer, TBFDA, which organises the 39-stall market, adding, “Traditional baajis that have a sound level below 125 dB are still available but repackaged innovatively. These include sparklers, fountains, spinners, snakes, glow worms, colour torches, 3D fireworks, and confetti poppers.”
