Wedding wows for Rahul, Priyanka

And together, they created their Chirodini...Tumi Je Amar moment, off-screen, that is. The much-in-love couple, who said “I do” on Thursday evening, opened gates for their family, friends and relatives both from the industry and otherwise, at a gala reception on Sunday. Needless to say, Tollywood turned up in full force to wish the couple a happy married life.
Like two perfect hosts, the newly-weds kept meeting and greeting the invitees, sometimes together and at times, separately. At one point, when Priyanka was asked about Rahul, she was overheard saying, “Jani na. Amio toh okei khujchhi. (I don’t know. I’m also looking for him.)” With the hustle-bustle quite akin to a biye bari, the clanking of glasses, yummy starters to dig into and happy faces all around, the feel was of one big family. Saswata Chatterjee, who had come with his family, won appreciative glances for his dhuti-panjabi look.
He even had Shaheb wishing out loud, “Amio amar dhuti ta pore ashley partam. (I too could’ve worn the same.)” Apuda, as he is known in the industry and also the doting dad that he is, the actor was seen roaming around with his daughter’s red botua, while she tucked into the wedding platter. Shaheb also added, “You can say that I was the ghotok in the Rahul-Priyanka affair. This wedding is happening, thanks to my efforts years back.” Bhaswar Chatterjee recollected the time when he was Priyanka’s first hero in “Balika Bodhu”. “She was all of 16 then. And today, the ‘Balika Bodhu’ is all set to play wife in reality.” For Sanghamitra Chaudhuri, this was “the best career wedding”. Over a sumptuous Chinese spread and an equally delectable Indian assortment to dig into, the guests could not have asked for more.
