Ustad Swapan's musical b'day do in Kolkata

A host of classical musicians recently came together to celebrate the 60th birthday of tabla maestro, Ustad Swapan Siva. Pt Ajoy Chakrabarty, Pt Swapan Chaudhuri, Ustad Sabir Khan, Pt Anindo Chatterjee, Pt Sanjay Mukherjee all came together to make the occasion memorable.

A host of classical musicians recently came together to celebrate the 60th birthday of tabla maestro, Ustad Swapan Siva. Pt Ajoy Chakrabarty, Pt Swapan Chaudhuri, Ustad Sabir Khan, Pt Anindo Chatterjee, Pt Sanjay Mukherjee all came together to make the occasion memorable.
“I had asked him not to declare his age, or our lady friends might lose interest,” laughed Pt Anindo Chatterjee.

Ustad Sabir Khan said, “Swapan Siva’s tabla never overlaps the accompanying music.
He is truly great when it comes to his expertise with the tabla.” Pt Ajoy Chakrabarty mesmerized all with his rendition of Raag Shuddh Kalyan as he sang “Aaj ki ghari shuv ho” and then the same raaga in ek tal when he sang “Guru hi ek guna adhar”.
