Sweet kiss of success

Brata Banerjee and Tiasha Pal, the star kids of Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy’s Haami couldn’t wait 50 days for the film’s success party. “They were after my life for the success party, as both were tired of hearing that the film was running houseful. They felt the team needed to celebrate the feat. Brata told me, ‘Shibuda sudhu bhalo kotha sunchi Haami ke niye, kintu tar jonne toh bhalo kichu khachina! Kichu koro!’ We had no other option but to throw the party on Sunday — the 45th day of the film’s release.Now they are demanding another party after it completes 50 days!” Shiboprosad told us.

The guests, who couldn’t stop praising and posing with the kids, had a gala time over lip-smacking food. “Every time, after watching our film, when a person comes to us and says, ‘Eta toh amader golpo’, we, as directors, feel, yes, we passed this time too,” said Nandita Roy, who played the perfect host for the evening.
Knowledge without going to school?
The guests were bowled over when Brata recited Tagore’s Jhulon along with none other than Soumitra Chatterjee. “I don’t like to study, but I want to know about the sky, stars and the moon. So can I gather knowledge about all these without going to school?,” Brata asked Chatterjee, to which the veteran actor replied, “You have to go to school to gather knowledge about everything, otherwise you’ll end up like me — doing nothing.”

Brata quickly retorted, “But you are doing quite well. You did films like Belaseshe, Praktan and Posto back-to-back! Then why are you saying tomar kichu holona?” The guests couldn’t stop laughing on hearing this.
It’s all about haamis!
Ishaa Saha told us how angry she was with Shiboprosad. “When our film, Projapoti Biskut, which was his house’s production, bagged so many awards, Shibuda never bothered to throw a party. But when it came to his own direction (Haami), he threw the party within 45 days of its release! How mean of him,” the actress said.

On the other hand, Monami just couldn’t get enough of Brata and his wisecracks. “I literally gave him 10 haamis and he told me those had brought the total number of haamis for the evening to 510,” she said with a smile.
