When the 10-day long summer theatre camp for kids and teens came to a close, it was an emotional moment for the participants and faculty alike. On Friday evening at Minerva Theatre, the audience was in for a treat what with kids staging their self-written plays, Alor Pathe and Gadhar Gaan, No Gyan. But before that, everyone had something or the other to share.
One of the participants said how shes bored during vacations in dearth of a playground near her house and the theatre camp gave her a chance to explore something new and interesting. Yet another participant said how happy he is to have made 36 new friends at the camp. Camp director Maloy Mitra, a tad bit sad about the workshop coming to an end, was all praise for the kids. They are far more professional than many from the world of theatre and cinema, he said.
But it was theatre personality Bibhash Chakraborty, who had the audience in splits when he said age has got nothing to do with creativity and that he has never been able to decipher Manoj Mitras (who was also part of the faculty) true age. He also revealed that the day was special as it was Meghnad Bhattacharyas (the brain behind the camp) birthday. Manoj Mitra suggested that the kids should continue to hone their theatrical skills. Talks over, it was stage calling for the kids and boy, what a performance it was!
