Spreading the message of love

Danseuse Sanchita Bhattacharya, in association with ICCR, recently took part in an event — Ritu Utsav — in memory of filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh, at a city auditorium. The event was organised by Megh Sayantan, a transgender lawyer, to create awareness of transgender rights.
An adaptation of Rabindranath Tagore’s dance-drama, Ami Chitrangada, was presented at the do which was also directed by Megh Sayantan. “This was very fulfilling for me as an artiste. Transgenders deserve equal rights, and above all, they need love. Dance is the only medium through which I could spread this message. So, I tried to use the platform to speak up,” said Sanchita.
