Present at the screening, as the Guest of Honour, was actor Indraneil Sengupta. Anjum Chopra, internationally renowned women’s cricketer, introduced the film and its director Sunil Yash Kalra, an internationally acclaimed sports film-maker.
The movie featuring five members of the Indian women’s cricket team, including Anjum Chopra who is the protagonist, is a rib-tickling display of candid humour interspersed with drama and camaraderie, having all the makings of a Bollywood blockbuster except for the fact that this is no fictitious creation, rather, insightful real-life footage that transports the viewer backstage and behind the scenes into the dressing room of the women’s team, revealing a whole new world.
The launch was followed by the announcement of a nation-wide hunt for fresh talent in the sequel Poor Cousins Part II with Anjum and the India Sports Films team travelling to various cities in search of unique individuals with a zest to be part of an extraordinary journey.Poor Cousins Part.II will be intricately structured in its content and planned in its production for greater acceptance.
