Sanskriti

, organised by the science department of

Jadavpur University

, saw a live performance by Anjan Dutt and Neel Dutt recently. While the footfall was expected to be around 5,000, students from other departments and colleges also joined in. Food stalls, hours of adda and the excitement of attending a college fest made the environment lively. Here’s a sneak peek into the event.

Music Corner
The father-son duo with other band members like Prasanto Mahato on bass,

Tukai

on drums and

Amyt Datta

on guitar performed some of their old songs along with the songs from the upcoming movie, Aami Ashbo Phirey. “Sanskriti organised by the JU science department is growing bigger with every passing year. It is always fun to perform here,” said Neel. Darjeeling, Mary Ann, Ranjana ami ar ashbo na and Tumi ashbe bole were rendered at the event. “The crowd was amazing. Since this was the first time that I was playing in front of such a big crowd, I wanted to give my best,” said Tukai.

From classroom to Open Air Theatre
College gives you the taste of freedom for the first time and a college fest is the ticket to stay out till late evening and spend time with friends. “Anjan and Neel Dutt are my all-time favourites, so at no point could I miss this concert,” said Ankita, student. “Sanskriti is the time to have fun. We look forward to this time of the year eagerly,” added another university student, Priyanka Das.

PYTs at the do
Sanskriti brings the perfect chance for the students to dress up in their fashionable attire. Though short and long dresses ruled the night, many wore hot pants and skirts to keep the night comfortable. “It’s all about comfort. I wore jeans and a tee because it will keep me comfortable and I will be able to dance and hang around with my friends freely,” said Tanisha Biswas. “Since we wear casual dresses to class, Sanskriti is the time
to deck up,” added Rwitabrita.
