But in the evening, many members of the acting fraternity got together at a city studio for a cultural evening dedicated to the maestro SD Burman and his contribution to Indian cinema. Apart from performances to hits like Rangeela Rangeela Re and Aamare Soshi Cheyo Na, the crowd also got to hear some melodious renditions of Aami Jani Bhromora Kotha Koye Na and Tumi Esechile Porshu, Kaal Keno Ele Na by Arindam Ganguly and Pijush Ganguly respectively.

Known for his ability to tickle the funny bone, actor Rajatava Dutta sang Mone Pore Ruby Ray much to the audience’s delight. As most of the television stars performed to numbers composed by SD Burman and RD Burman, Prosenjit, Jeet and Jisshu went backstage to cheer them on. Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi and Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee graced the occasion for some time.
