Pets steal the show at city carnival

Come winter and there are carnivals at every nook and corner of the city. But the scene at a south Kolkata playground on Sunday was unlike any other. Pooches strutted wearing fancy clothes and fashionable accessories as they socialised, made new friends at a fun, pet fiesta. The idea behind the carnival was to raise awareness about why pets make for great companions and why pet adoption is important. KCI registration for the pets was also a part of the carnival. There were multiple fun activities for pets – from agility zones, photo booth to rotating selfie zone, pet bakery, fashion show and live caricature – at the carnival. That apart, there were also interactive sessions with
canine behaviourist and veterinarian for pet parents to get a clearer overview of the breed and how to take care of them. Dr Chandrakanta Chakraborty, Consultant Veterinarian, who was at the event, said, "More such pet carnivals should be put together so that all types of dog breeds, including our Indie breeds, can participate, play and freelymingle with other pets. It helps develop a good bond which is an important part of socialisation. Actor Darshana, who had a great time at the event, said, "It’s the cutest carnival I’ve ever been to. I enjoyed a lot and cuddled all the pets!"
