The Oscar Acevedo Quartet from Colombia performed at the ICCR on Monday. They played a blend of Colombian music, peppered with jazz arrangements.
On the grand piano was Oscar Acevedo while Raul Platz was on the upright bass. Keeping the beat on the special jazz drumset was Juan Camilo Anzola. But it was Gina Savino’s throaty vocals that made the audience ask for encores.

Add to that her brilliant blue shift dress and her gentle swaying of hips, Flamenco style, and the crowd just lapped it all up.
The band has been performing since 1982 and their repertoire includes traditional jazz music, original compositions and Colombian pop. They have toured around a dozen countries.
In India, the quartet had kicked off their tour with a scintillating performance in Delhi. The band, which draws inspiration from the likes of Ella Fitzgerald and Led Zeppelin, wowed the Kolkata audience with this unique musical experience.
